This is delicious bread and a good inclusion in the Abbots range. I’ve had light rye bread before but love the dark rye and was pleased to find it instore recently. It has a 4-star health rating. I did expect a larger quantity of rye and was surprised that rye flour is only 11% and rye meal 4.5%. Contains barley, rye, wheat, gluten and soy as possible allergens. says also my be present - oats and sesame. suitable do vegetarians and vegans. All in all a delicious bread alternative.

Abbott's Bakery Dark Rye has become a staple in my kitchen. The bread boasts a deep, malty flavor that's both rich and satisfying. Its soft texture, combined with a gentle crunch from the semolina topping, makes it versatile for various meals. What I appreciate: Flavor Profile: The earthy taste of rye flour is prominent without being overpowering. Texture: Soft and moist, yet holds up well when toasted or used in sandwiches. Nutritional Value: With 7.3g of protein per serve and being a source of fiber, it aligns well with my dietary preferences. Dietary Considerations: It's suitable for vegetarians and vegans, and it's Halal certified, which broadens its appeal. Considerations: Availability: While it's available in major supermarkets like Coles and Woolworths, I've noticed it can sometimes be out of stock, so I tend to buy an extra loaf when I can. Shelf Life: As with many breads without preservatives, it has a shorter shelf life. I often freeze slices to extend its usability.

Abbott Bakery's Dark Rye Bread is a standout choice for bread enthusiasts seeking a hearty, flavorful option. The loaf has a dense, moist texture that pairs beautifully with its rich, slightly tangy rye flavor. Its natural, wholesome ingredients make it a healthier alternative to white bread, and it's a great base for sandwiches or as a side with soups and stews. The subtle hint of sweetness balances the robust rye taste, making it enjoyable on its own or with spreads. While the flavor is excellent, the bread can be slightly crumbly, so slicing and handling require care. Overall, it’s a high-quality product perfect for those who appreciate artisanal bread with depth and character.
