Spice for those who cant or don't eat onion or garlic, Hong adds a similar depth and savories taste to indian food. Also neutralizes acidic effects and helps in controlling the digestive system.

This is super pungent and too strong for my liking. The spice is from the fennel plant and gives off a onion- like taste to food. Popular in Indian cooking. A little goes a long way and it is not suitable for those with a delicate palate. Will not buy again.
