These Australian Hass avocados were fresh, creamy and full of flavour. I really liked the smooth texture and rich taste, especially for toast, salads and guacamole. They ripened nicely after a couple of days and were easy to cut. The only small downside is that avocados can be a bit firm when first purchased, so you need to wait until they are ready to eat. Overall, great quality and I would buy them again.

The "251" and "6447" on Australian Hass avocado stickers denote the fruit's origin and variety. Generally, 6447 is the standard Price Look-Up (PLU) code assigned to conventionally grown Hass avocados in Australia, while 251 indicates a specific farm, region, or packing code associated with the supplier.Breaking Down the CodePLU 6447: This code is primarily used at checkout to identify a standard-sized, conventionally grown Hass avocado.Code 251: This is typically a supplier or packhouse reference (for example, often linked to growers in Western Australia like The Avocado Collective) that helps track the fruit back to its source.Organic (PLU 9...): If you ever see a 5-digit code starting with 9 (e.g., 96447), it indicates the avocado was grown using certified organic farming methods.Australian Hass Feedback & OverviewHass is the most popular avocado variety in Australia, making up the bulk of commercial consumption. Consumer feedback generally focuses on two key traits:Taste and Texture: Hass avocados are celebrated for having a higher fat content, resulting in a rich, creamy, and buttery texture that is highly sought after for smashed avocado, guacamole, and dips.Ripeness Indicator: Unlike the green-skinned Shepard avocado, Hass fruit will slowly turn from dark green to dark purple/black as it ripens. How to Tell When It’s ReadyInstead of aggressively squeezing the avocado—which can cause internal bruising—gently press the fruit in the palm of your hand. If it yields to gentle pressure, it is perfectly ripe and ready for consumption. If it feels mushy, it may be overripe.Track current avocado supplies and find recipes or growing guides on the Australian Avocados platform, or look up specific supply chain details via the Avocados Australia industry hub.
