The taste is strong, salty and savoury with that unique umami kick that really hits the spot when spread thinly on buttered toast. A little goes a long way, and when you get the butter to Vegemite ratio right it’s seriously comforting and nostalgic. It’s also surprisingly practical, lasting ages in the fridge and adding flavour to toast, sandwiches or even cooking. Definitely not for everyone, but for fans it’s a pantry essential that never gets old.
