I like Pink Lady Apples for their sweet and tart flavour. The Royal Gala Apples Loose for their texture which is always consistently grainy, and they’re usually sporting some type of bruise because they don’t travel well. They’re moderately juicy, which is fine, but they’re very sweet, like I need a glass of water afterwards to calm the taste buds.

Royal Gala apples loose are a classic everyday fruit with a mild sweetness and thin skin. They’re typically crisp when fresh and work well for snacking, juicing, or adding natural sweetness to lunchboxes. Buying them loose allows you to select individual apples based on size and firmness, which helps reduce waste. Their flavour is generally sweeter and less tart than other varieties, making them appealing to children. However, they can soften quickly if stored too long, and the sweetness may feel one-dimensional for those who prefer a sharper taste. Overall, they’re a reliable, budget-friendly staple for regular apple lovers.

Royal Gala apples are a solid everyday pick if you like a mild sweetness and softer bite. Buying them loose is great because you can choose the size and quantity you need, no pressure to commit to a whole bag. The flavour is usually gentle and pleasant, making them versatile for snacking or slicing into salads. They’re also often more affordable than specialty varieties. The main drawback is consistency, sometimes they’re perfectly crisp, other times a bit mealy, especially if stored too long. They’re not as tangy or bold in flavour as Pink Lady or Granny Smith, but still a good budget-friendly option
