👍 Positives 1. Low in Calories and Fat • Rice paper is very light — low-calorie compared to fried wrappers. • Very little fat. 2. Gluten-Free • Made from rice flour (and sometimes tapioca), so naturally gluten-free. • Good for people with celiac disease or gluten sensitivities. 3. Versatile / Customisable • Works for fresh “summer” rolls (with veggies, lean protein), or even fried rolls if you want. • Acts as a “blank canvas” — you can pack in healthy fillings (vegetables, lean proteins, herbs) to make a very nutritious meal. 4. Easy to Digest • Because it’s just rice and water (plus maybe tapioca), it’s quite gentle on the stomach. • No cholesterol. 5. Light & Healthy Option • When used for fresh rolls, you can make a relatively low-calorie lunch or snack. • Helps you eat a lot of volume (vegetables + fillings) without too many calories. ⸻ 👎 Negatives / Drawbacks 1. Low in Nutrients • Very little protein, fiber, or micronutrients in the wrapper itself. • Mostly “empty” carbohydrates. 2. High Glycemic Index (GI) • Rice paper can raise blood sugar relatively quickly because of its refined carbs. • This could be a concern for people with diabetes or those watching their blood sugar. 3. Dependence on Filling for Nutrition • Because the wrapper doesn’t offer much, the healthiness of your roll really depends on what you put inside. If you fill with unhealthy or calorie-dense ingredients, you can negate the benefits. • Dipping sauces can add a lot of calories, sugar, or sodium. 4. Storage/Handling Issues • Rice paper can be tricky to handle — it sticks easily, tears, or becomes brittle. (Many people online mention this.) • Keeping them soft if you store rolls: rice paper can harden in the fridge unless stored properly (e.g. wrapped in damp towels or plastic). 5. Not Very Filling by Itself • Because it doesn’t have much fiber or protein, you might not feel very full if you rely only on rice paper and a few fillings; this could lead to snacking more

Pandaroo Vietnamese Rice Paper – Review Pandaroo Vietnamese Rice Paper is thin, flexible, and perfect for making fresh spring rolls, summer rolls, or wraps. It softens quickly in water, holds fillings well, and has a neutral flavor that complements a variety of ingredients. Pros: Easy to soften and use, versatile for fresh rolls, neutral flavor. Cons: Can tear easily if over-soaked, may stick together in storage, delicate handling required.

these Rice paper rolls are a staple in my diet, and I've tried various brands over the years. Recently, I had the opportunity to try a new brand. Firstly, the texture of the rice paper was excellent. It was thin yet sturdy enough to hold all the fillings without tearing. This is crucial because there's nothing worse than a rice paper roll that falls apart as soon as you pick it up. Secondly, the taste was top-notch. The rice paper itself had a subtle, pleasant flavor that didn't overpower the fillings. The freshness of the ingredients really shone through, from the crunchy vegetables to the tender protein (I opted for tofu, but they offer various options like shrimp or chicken).
