Review of Cage Free Eggs 12 Pack
Picked these up at the shops feeling pretty good about myself, honestly. The packaging does its job - lots of green, a happy hen logo, the word "humane" thrown around like confetti - and for a moment you feel like you're basically saving the planet one omelette at a time. The eggs themselves? Perfectly fine. Yolks were a nice yellow, cooked well, tasted like... eggs. No dramatic difference from the regular ones in taste or nutrition, which is both reassuring and slightly annoying given the price bump. My only gripe is that once you actually look into what "cage-free" means - basically a crowded indoor barn with no outdoor access - the warm fuzzy feeling fades a little. It's a step in the right direction and I'd still buy them over conventional caged eggs, but if you're going to spend the extra dollar, you might as well stretch to free-range or pasture-raised where the hens actually see sunlight. Good egg, questionable marketing.
