Lentils are a great source of protein and fibre. They are a great meat alternative or in addition to meat in dishes - reducing the overall fat content in a meat-based dish. Lentils have a mild flavour and can even be used to thicken up a dish by mashing them and stirring through a sauce. Though it’s great to cook lentils from scratch, who has time? A can of lentils in the pantry means plant protein can be used as a base or added to a recipe readily.
