Fresh green asparagus is crisp, tender, and naturally flavorful. It has a light, slightly sweet taste with a fresh crunch when cooked just right. Perfect for steaming, grilling, or stir-frying, and it pairs well with butter, garlic, or lemon. A healthy and versatile vegetable that makes any meal feel a little more special.

It is only $1.5 (previous week $1!) but the quality is good. The bundle has around 20+ asparagus. Though some of the bottom parts are a bit too old and the fibres are too strong to chew and need to be discarded. Simple chop it and airfry with meat which gives oil and it is done.

The asparagus is Excellent source of antioxidants which Contains glutathione, vitamin E, and polyphenols. It protect cells from damage and may slow aging effects. For women especially for my wife, asparagus can support healthy pregnancy. The folate in asparagus is especially important for women during pregnancy, helping in the baby’s brain and spinal development.

Green asparagus is a popular and nutritious vegetable, especially prized during its peak season in spring. Its spears are known for being rich in essential nutrients, including vitamins K, C, and E, as well as folate and fiber, all while remaining very low in calories. This high nutrient density and antioxidant content makes it an excellent addition to any diet, with potential health benefits including supporting digestive health, promoting fluid balance due to its natural diuretic properties, and aiding in blood pressure regulation. Furthermore, green asparagus is incredibly versatile; it can be eaten raw, roasted, grilled, steamed, or added to various dishes like salads, soups, and stir-fries, making it easy to incorporate into daily meals. However, green asparagus does have a few less desirable characteristics. One of the most famous—and harmless—cons is that it contains asparagusic acid, which breaks down into sulfurous compounds during digestion, resulting in a distinctive, pungent smell in urine afterward. On the digestive front, the vegetable’s high fiber and oligosaccharide content, particularly when consumed raw or in excess, can sometimes lead to gas, flatulence, and bloating in sensitive individuals. Additionally, quality can be inconsistent; if asparagus is not stored or prepared properly after harvest, the natural sugars convert to starch quickly, leading to an unpleasantly tough or woody texture in the spears, especially near the bottom of the stalk, which requires trimming.

Green asparagus is crisp, vibrant, and full of fresh, earthy flavor with a hint of sweetness. When cooked properly—grilled, steamed, or sautéed—it stays tender yet slightly crunchy. It pairs beautifully with olive oil, garlic, butter, or lemon, and works well in salads, pasta, or as a side dish to meats and seafood. Rich in fiber and vitamins, it’s both healthy and elegant on the plate.
