Review of VIVA PAPER TOWEL TWIN PACK WHITE 2 X 60 SHEETS

What’s good (positives) 1. High absorbency and durability Viva towels are designed with “deep wave-like channels” in the sheet structure that help with absorbency, thickness and toughness. They clean well, even when wet, and can handle sticky or greasy messes. 2. QuickClean Texture They have a texture (“Quick Clean Texture”) that helps soak up spills quickly, which makes cleanup faster. 3. Variety of sizes / sheet-types Viva offers “Regular”, “Double Length”, “Select-A-Size”, etc. This means you can choose roll types depending on usage (bigger rolls for heavy use, smaller or tear-off-smaller sheets for light tasks) so you don’t waste as much. 4. Responsible sourcing & sustainability steps • The fibres are FSC certified, meaning the forest materials are from responsibly managed sources. • The Viva lines are made in Australia (for much of their “classic” range) which helps reduce transport emissions (vs importing). • They are working on lowering environmental impact (e.g. reducing plastic use in packaging, aiming for carbon neutrality in certain operations by 2030). 5. Value in durability Because of the thickness and tear‐resistance, fewer sheets may be needed per mess, which can mean less overall waste (if used efficiently). Also, options like “Double Length” mean fewer roll changes. ⸻ What to watch out for (negatives) 1. Environmental / waste impact • Even responsibly sourced paper still uses trees, water, energy, and chemicals in manufacture. Paper towels are disposable, so there’s waste. • If paper towels (used with grease, food waste, etc.) go to landfill, they may decompose anaerobically, producing methane (a potent greenhouse gas). 2. Cost vs reusables Over time, the cost of using disposable paper towels adds up. Reusable cloths or towels, though they have their own wash-costs, may be more economical in the long term. 3. Potential perception of quality decline Some users report that newer versions aren’t quite as absorbent or feel thinner / less cloth-like than older ones. Whether this is a broad change or specific batches is unclear. 4. Sheets may tear unevenly or be inconvenient sizes Some complaints are about the perforations (sheets tearing irregularly) and that the shape/size of sheets may have changed (smaller or non-square) which may reduce ease of use. 5. Bleaching / additives As with many white paper towels, bleaching is part of the process. Some people prefer unbleached or “natural” options to avoid unnecessary chemicals. I did not find for certain if Viva is chlorine-free or exactly which bleaching agents are used. But bleaching can have environmental / health impacts. 6. Disposal issues • You can’t recycle used paper towels (most of the time) because they’re contaminated / soiled. • If composting is an option, that helps, but not all municipal systems accept compostables, or people don’t separate/compost
