Positives 1. No Added Salt • Very low sodium (about 25 mg per serving), good for people controlling blood pressure. 2. Good Source of Fibre • Around 5 g fibre per serving, which supports digestion and gut health. 3. Plant-Based Protein • Provides about 3.4 g protein per serving, helpful for vegetarians and vegans. 4. Very Low Fat • Only 0.1 g fat per serving, making it heart-friendly. 5. Simple Ingredients • Only chickpeas, water, and ascorbic acid (vitamin C) with no artificial colours or preservatives. 6. Cheap and Convenient • Usually around $1–$1.20 per can, ready to eat for salads, curries, or hummus. ⸻ ❌ Negatives 1. Canned Food • Some people avoid canned products because of processing and packaging. 2. Texture Can Be Soft • Compared with freshly cooked chickpeas, canned ones can be slightly mushy. 3. Only 60% Chickpeas • The can contains about 60% chickpeas and the rest water, so drained quantity is smaller. 4. Gas / Bloating for Some People • Chickpeas contain legumes and fibre, which may cause bloating if eaten in large amounts

Woolworths chickpeas are great to have in your pantry as they are convenient to have. 5 star health rating. Great for vegetarians. Good source of Fibre and protein. No artificial colors or flavours or preservatives. I add them to a bean salad. Also I make houmous out of the chickpeas, as I come from the Lebanese background. You don't have to soak them as they are cooked already. Even to nibble on them as a snack food, very healthy.
