I love the odd bunch initiative, and a lot of times these are actually better than the regular ones. The taste is identical but sometimes the seeds are a lot smaller, making it more worth the price

these are great but the only downside is they go ripe so fast so I can only buy a few at a time

Bought a bag of odd bunch avocados from Woolies, and it seems to be a great time to buy. $5.50 for a kilo, contains around 7 avocados still in good condition.

Odd Bunch avocados are a great value option while still being fresh and tasty. They might not look perfect, but the inside is creamy and delicious. Perfect for toast, salads, or smoothies. Overall, a budget-friendly and sustainable choice that doesn’t compromise on quality.

👍 Positives (Pros) 1. More economical option sometimes • The “Odd Bunch” range is intended to sell produce that might otherwise go to waste due to shape, size, or slight blemishes, often at a lower price than regularly graded fruit. • Some shoppers report saving money compared to higher-graded produce at regular prices. 2. Reduces food waste • Buying misshapen or “odd” fruit like prepacked avocados helps reduce the amount of edible food that supermarkets reject and that might otherwise go to landfill — a sustainability plus. 3. Avocado nutrition is strong (for the product itself) • Avocados are nutrient-dense: healthy fats (mostly monounsaturated), fibre, potassium and vitamins like E and C. That means when they’re ripe and good quality, they’re a healthy addition to meals. 4. Convenient packaging • Prepacked in 1 kg bags, the product is ready to pick up in store without having to choose each avocado individually. ⸻ 👎 Negatives (Cons) 1. Variable quality and size • A common theme with “odd bunch” avocados is that fruit may be smaller, oddly shaped, or inconsistent in ripeness, meaning some may be underripe or overripe. This is part of why they’re classed as “odd” produce. 2. Price sometimes not as good as expected • In some cases shoppers have noted that the difference in price compared to regular produce isn’t huge, especially after discarding fruit that doesn’t ripen well. 3. Ripening unpredictability • Multipacks like this can include fruit that ripens unevenly — some may stay hard while others go mushy quickly — which can feel wasteful if you end up throwing some away. 4. No detailed nutrition on pack • Official product listings often don’t include specific nutritional values for these prepacked odd bunch avocados, which means you just rely on general avocado nutrition rather than pack-specific data
