I normally love Woolworths traditional mini hot cross bun packs, but the ones I got the other day were extremely dry :(

We normally are not a fan of hot cross buns in particular. We don't hate them but we don't like them that much either. These mini size are just the right size for us therefore! If they are any bigger we would like them much less. These are the yummiest after 15 seconds in the microwave. They are soft and taste almost like freshly out of the oven this way. We do find it funny that these are available right after Christmas and a good three months before Easter!

These mini hot cross buns are a solid, classic option if you enjoy traditional flavours. The buns are soft and fluffy, with a good balance of fruit throughout — not overloaded, but enough to give that familiar sweet, spiced taste. The mini size makes them easy to portion, especially for snacks or lunchboxes. Lightly toasted, they become even better, with a gentle crisp on the outside while staying soft inside. The spice flavour is mild, so it won’t be overpowering, and they pair well with butter or a little jam. On the downside, they can feel slightly dry if eaten straight from the pack, especially after a day or two, but toasting fixes this quickly. Overall, they’re a reliable, affordable choice for Easter or anytime you’re craving a traditional hot cross bun in a smaller size.
