Woolworths Red Onions are a kitchen essential, known for their vibrant purple-red skin and mild, slightly sweet flavour. These versatile onions add a delightful crunch and colour to many dishes, perfect for both raw and cooked applications. They are a popular choice for salads, marinades, and roasted vegetable medleys. How to Pick: Choose red onions that are firm and dry, with smooth, intact skins. Avoid any with soft spots, sprouts, or mould, as these indicate they are past their prime. How to Store: Store red onions in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated place away from direct sunlight. Do not store them in the refrigerator, as this can reduce their shelf life and alter their texture. They will keep fresh for several weeks when stored correctly. How to Prepare: To prepare, carefully peel away the outer layers of skin. Slice, dice, or chop the onion according to your recipe's requirements. Red onions can be finely sliced for salads or chopped for cooking, adding flavour and texture. Ways to Eat: Enjoy red onions raw in salads, sandwiches, and as a garnish for tacos or burgers. They also caramelise beautifully when cooked, adding sweetness to stir-fries, roasts, and pizzas. Use them to create flavourful sauces, dressings, and marinades. Cooking Methods: Bake, barbecue, caramelise, grill, roast, sauté, stir-fry.

I recently bought these red onions and overall I’m happy with the quality. They have a very tasty, rich flavor. they are great for salads, sauces, and cooking. However, I did notice that the onions are quite small compared to others I’ve purchased before. It’s not a huge issue, but it means I need to use more for certain recipes. Another downside is the packaging: the mesh bag they come in tears easily, which makes handling and storing them a bit inconvenient.
