Great quality beef mince, very lean, you couldn’t see any big chunks of fat in it. Deep red colour too with no brown parts. Used it to make beef pasties and mixing the beef with seasonings and veggies was super easy. Delicious and great value for money!

We use minced beef regularly to make meals such as pasta sauce, Mexican tortilla filling and lasagne. I usually buy Coles Extra Lean Beef Mince. As the name suggests, it is a lot lower in fat content than some other minced beef, and I like it because I'm not a fan of fatty meat. It's a couple of dollars more than others but to me it is worth it to not have to strain the fat out of the cooked mince. It is also in a 500g pack, which is the perfect size for almost all the recipes I use it for. I made Mexican style tortillas with it, which were really tasty.

I like Coles' No Added Hormone Beef 5 Star Extra Trim for its good value and versatile product. I found that fat content is an important part of enjoying some mince meals, such as hamburgers. 5-star doesn’t work for a lot of people, and whether 3-star is better is a personal opinion - the fat adds flavour. I recently did BBQ with this 5-star beef mince and the cleanup was epic in comparison to my preferred 4-star beef mince. Lots of flare-ups and spatters everywhere.
