Extra lean mince is a healthy, high-protein option with around 5% fat, making it ideal for lighter meals and meal prep. It cooks cleanly with less grease but can be slightly drier and less flavourful than regular mince. Best suited to sauces or seasoned dishes where moisture and richness can be added.

Great quality beef mince, very lean, you couldn’t see any big chunks of fat in it. Deep red colour too with no brown parts. Used it to make beef pasties and mixing the beef with seasonings and veggies was super easy. Delicious and great value for money!

We use minced beef regularly to make meals such as pasta sauce, Mexican tortilla filling and lasagne. I usually buy Coles Extra Lean Beef Mince. As the name suggests, it is a lot lower in fat content than some other minced beef, and I like it because I'm not a fan of fatty meat. It's a couple of dollars more than others but to me it is worth it to not have to strain the fat out of the cooked mince. It is also in a 500g pack, which is the perfect size for almost all the recipes I use it for. I made Mexican style tortillas with it, which were really tasty.
