Lean and fresh with very little excess fat, so it cooks cleanly and evenly. Good flavour for a 5 star mince and works well for lighter meals where you don’t want greasiness.

I like Coles' No Added Hormone Beef 5 Star Extra Trim for its good value and versatile product. I found that fat content is an important part of enjoying some mince meals, such as hamburgers. 5-star doesn’t work for a lot of people, and whether 3-star is better is a personal opinion - the fat adds flavour. I recently did BBQ with this 5-star beef mince and the cleanup was epic in comparison to my preferred 4-star beef mince. Lots of flare-ups and spatters everywhere.

Go to choice for my protein meal prep, or even feeding to my dog raw as part of his raw diet. I also like to use for spaghetti Bolognese or taco nights. has a real wide use case, however sad to see the prices have increased as of late.
