Soft, spiced, and unapologetically indulgent—chocolate hot cross buns are the festive rebels who looked at the traditional raisin version and said, ‘absolutely not’. They’re fluffy, rich, and studded with melty chocolate chunks that turn every bite into a warm, gooey moment of joy. Toast them and the chocolate softens into pure decadence; eat them fresh and they’re basically dessert disguised as breakfast. They’re perfect for Easter, afternoon tea, late‑night snacking, or inhaling straight from the packet before anyone else gets home. The downside? They go stale faster than your motivation on a Monday. Basically, chocolate hot cross buns prove that tradition is better with cocoa.

Coles Traditional Hot Cross Buns are spiced buns with plump and luscious sultanas, currents and raisins. Best eaten when toasted and served with butter or few seconds in the microwave to eat as soft bun. Surprisingly, these hot cross buns don’t contain much added sugar! They’re 25% dried fruit where each hot cross bun contains about a tablespoon of dried fruit, this is nearly 1 serve of fruit! It seems to now be available all year round now instead of just only at Easter time.
