Good flavour and texture. Super versatile to use especially of you are short on time and need something quick and nutritious.

I have these for lunch most days, usually as part of a salad. Very nice flavour and not bitter at all. I make sure to buy a few when they come around on sale.

John West’s Lemon & Cracked Pepper Tuna Tempters offer a convenient, flavour-packed snack or meal addition that balances zest and savoury spice in a compact 95g tin. The flavour is where this variety stands out — the lemon is bright and tangy without being overpowering, while the cracked black pepper adds just the right amount of kick. Together, they enhance the natural richness of the tuna without masking it. It’s a refreshing twist on plain tuna that works well on crackers, in salads, or stirred through pasta. In terms of texture, the tuna is moist but not soggy, flaking easily with a fork. It’s well-drained compared to some oil-based options, which makes it lighter and less messy — a bonus for those looking for a quick lunch at work or on-the-go. Nutritionally, it's a lean source of protein, and the portion size is ideal for a light snack or to complement other ingredients in a meal. It’s also relatively low in calories and doesn’t come with the heaviness of oil-packed versions. The only downside is the slightly metallic aftertaste that can occasionally come from the tin, especially if you eat it straight without mixing. However, this is a minor issue and not uncommon with canned fish products.

This is one of my favourite lunch time meals. I keep heaps of these in my desk drawer with crackers. Easy to spoon on. When I’m home, I like to add the oil to salads and other meals that I’m cooking.
