Mouthwash works temporarily, like maybe an hour or two. It's like applying paint on a wall that is rotten and crumbling from the inside. A better solution is to maintain dental hygiene. Brush twice a day, keep yourself well hydrated (this is generally good advice anyway), reduce sugar. For me chewing (sugarless) gum also helped.
